valentinaversary? valentineversary?

our anniversary is the day before valentines day. so. we usually combine things a little.

but this year that meant at least 4 days of anniversary and valentine’s day. and it was wonderful.

it also included these lovely flowers. lillies, of course, and one rose.

they are beautiful. and now that we’re both home feeling sick and lame, it’s awfully nice to have them brightening things up.

it was sunny enough to merit opening the porch door today, to let the cat sit by the screen door and dream.

it wasn’t warm enough to keep it open for very long–but this is the professor’s favorite wintertime activity. so i indulged him for a little while.

who knows what he sees and hears and smells. birds certainly. but what else?

i wish i could get that much pleasure from simply sitting by an open window.

here’s hoping i wake up to this again soon.

the sun has been beautiful. and i’m so grateful for it. but it’s not time for spring yet!

thanks to not only bizarrely warm weather today but even some SUN as well (those of you who know cleveland know that winter is not friendly to sun…)–teddy and i took a field trip to our favorite metro park!

he was happy.

it was so muddy and quiet on the trails that i allowed him off leash (and was very impressed by his return rate when i called him! even when we encountered a runner!) for most of the walk.

i love winter. i’ll be glad when the snow returns. but this was a nice break.

i love waking up to this. love it.

and i love any excuse to go take a walk in it. one of the may reasons i have a dog. and a camera.

i love taking walks in the snow.

i love it so much that it made up for missing a riding lesson. kept my aperture a little too wide really, but i kinda like the dreamy effect that it has.

But I am having the kind of day where I desperately want something to change, something to shift, something to happen.

And right now, I desperately want to go back west.

Back to reality. It’s a good reality, don’t get me wrong. But fantasy can be so sweet.

taking photos in the snow is sometimes interesting. you’re never really sure what you’re getting–especially when it’s actively windy and snowing!

but this goose amused me. and i appreciated his cheer in the midst of all the grey.

edited experimentally with “snapseed.” not the way i usually edit but something fun to play with!

if you’re a camp girl you can probably identify this horse as scottie… easily recognizable by his left ear.

he was surprisingly affectionate during this visit–but i’ve always loved him!

I had to post at least one more shot of Teddy Moore-Coll from yesterday.

He’s just too handsome. And he was so ridiculously happy in the snow.
